  • Supergirl arrives on premium video-on-demand platforms on July 28, just 32 days after its theatrical debut.
  • The film earned approximately $121 million worldwide before Warner Bros. scheduled its early home release.
  • The digital launch comes weeks before Lanterns premieres, keeping DC Studios’ newest projects in the spotlight.
  • 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD editions arrive on September 8, offering additional viewing options and bonus features.

Warner Bros. is bringing Supergirl to premium video-on-demand platforms on July 28, just 32 days after the film opened in theaters on June 26.

The earlier home release gives audiences another opportunity to watch Milly Alcock’s first solo appearance as Kara Zor-El while the film is still fresh in fans’ minds.

For viewers who did not see it on the big screen, the digital release offers a chance to experience the latest chapter of the new DC Universe from home.

Beginning July 28, Supergirl will be available to rent or buy through major digital stores, including Apple TV, Prime Video, Google TV and Fandango at Home.

Warner Bros. has also confirmed that the film will arrive on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on September 8, giving collectors access to physical editions and bonus features.

The shorter gap between the theatrical and digital releases reflects a release schedule that has become more common across the film industry.

Instead of waiting several months before making a movie available at home, studios now often release major titles digitally within a few weeks of their theatrical debut.

This approach gives audiences more flexibility, allowing those who prefer home viewing to watch new films sooner.

The timing also keeps Supergirl in the spotlight as DC Studios prepares to release more projects in its new shared universe.

Although Warner Bros. has not linked the digital release to any upcoming title, it arrives less than three weeks before Lanterns premieres on HBO Max on August 16.

The close release schedule helps maintain interest in DC’s growing lineup as new stories continue to reach audiences across both film and television.

For Milly Alcock, the film marks an important step in her career as she takes on the role of Supergirl for the first time.

Her performance introduces a new version of Kara Zor-El while establishing the character’s place in the rebooted DC Universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Releasing the film digitally so soon after its theatrical debut allows more viewers to become familiar with the character before she appears in future DC projects.

The months ahead remain busy for DC Studios. Following the release of Lanterns in August, the studio plans to continue expanding its lineup with Clayface later this year before bringing Supergirl back alongside David Corenswet’s Superman in Man of Tomorrow, which is scheduled to arrive in 2027.

Each project adds another piece to the studio’s long-term storytelling plans.

For audiences, the July 28 digital release provides another way to watch Supergirl without waiting for its streaming debut.

Whether viewers are seeing Milly Alcock’s performance for the first time or revisiting the film after its theatrical run, the home release keeps one of DC Studios’ newest heroes at the center of the conversation as the next chapter of the franchise approaches.

It also gives fans an opportunity to revisit Kara Zor-El’s introduction before future DC Studios projects expand the shared universe, keeping interest in the character active as the franchise continues to develop across film and television.
