From The Odyssey to Their Next Movie: John Leguizamo Calls Matt Damon the ‘Coolest, Funniest’ Co-Star in Hollywood

Hollywood veteran John Leguizamo has officially named Matt Damon as the coolest and funniest co-star he has ever worked alongside in his decades-long acting career.

The two acclaimed actors shared the screen in director Christopher Nolan’s historic summer blockbuster action epic The Odyssey, which brought Homer’s foundational Greek saga to global IMAX screens.

Speaking during promotional press interviews following the film’s massive box office run, Leguizamo reflected on their tight bond on set, sharing hilarious behind-the-scenes stories about filming the multi-million dollar production across seven countries.

The glowing comments sparked immediate interest across film communities, with moviegoers praising the genuine camaraderie between the two Hollywood heavyweights.

During the intense filming of The Odyssey, Leguizamo portrayed the faithful swineherd Eumaeus, a role that required heavy prosthetic makeup and restrictive contact lenses that severely impaired his vision on set.

In press appearances, Leguizamo revealed that Damon, who starred as the legendary King of Ithaca, Odysseus, regularly stepped in to assist him between takes.

Leguizamo shared that Damon literally held his hand and walked him safely to the lunch tent every afternoon because he could not see clearly through his specialized character contacts.

This hands-on, down-to-earth kindness left a lasting impression on Leguizamo, who praised Damon for maintaining a hilarious, generous, and humble attitude throughout the grueling global shoot.

The strong dynamic between the two actors extended far beyond daily onset assistance into a deep professional respect.

Leguizamo described working alongside Damon in Nolan’s star-studded ensemble as a dream team experience, comparing Nolan’s visionary directorial style to cinema legend Stanley Kubrick.

Filming took the production team through dramatic physical locations in Morocco, Greece, Sicily, Iceland, and Western Sahara.

Throughout the physically demanding shoot, Damon’s steady humor and leadership kept the cast and crew motivated during complex stunt sequences and massive practical effects setups, including filming inside a giant constructed Trojan Horse on location.

Their successful collaboration on The Odyssey has generated significant momentum as both actors prepare for their next major Hollywood projects.

Industry reports confirmed that Leguizamo and Damon are set to reunite on screen once again for an upcoming feature project directed by the Oscar-winning filmmaking duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known collectively as the Daniels.

Fans of high-concept cinema and star-driven blockbusters are eagerly anticipating their next team-up, pointing to their proven chemistry as a driving force behind their on-screen success.

As film critics and awards analysts begin looking ahead to seasonal honors, both Leguizamo and Damon have earned widespread praise for their standout performances in Nolan’s epic.

Their memorable press tour moments, including welcoming a giant Trojan Horse on Miami Beach during promotional events, highlighted a rare and genuine Hollywood friendship built on mutual humor and hard work.
